I’m going to be 53 this year and was feeling the negative effects and symptoms of menopause. All of my self-confidence was completely zapped, and I had no energy or incentive to do things I once enjoyed. I have struggled with food addiction and borderline eating disorders since I was very young. I went from one diet extreme to another, sometimes seeing results, but ultimately going back to my bad habits and stress eating. I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. A friend had been working with Kim and I was watching her transform – even though my friend was already very active, Kim made a huge difference in how she ate and how she approached exercise in her early 50’s. I started working with Kim 6 months ago with her nutrition plan and her workouts 3 days a week and have lost 18 total inches (I’m working on getting to 4-5 days a week of working out or doing something active – baby steps 😊). I love the workouts; they are challenging and fun and I’m engaged because it’s not the same thing every day. I went from size 12/14 (sometimes 15/16) to size 10/12, depending of course on the clothing. I cannot tell you how much stronger I feel and how much I am able to do now than I could before. When I started, I could not do a plank or a pushup, now I can hold a plank for over 3 minutes and I can actually do pushups! My stamina and energy are much higher too. I’m going to be a grandmother soon and I needed something to get healthier so that I can keep up with my grandson and be there for him, and be healthy for him, for years to come. It was time for me to make decisions about my own health and wellbeing, instead of putting everyone else in my life first, and I am so glad I did! I’m in charge of my health now, and it is my #1 priority. I feel good about myself. Don’t get we wrong; I still struggle with food and every day brings its challenges; but it is my attitude that has changed for the better. If I fall, I get right back up. Tomorrow is a new day and I know I can do this. I’m still in the beginning of my journey but I have made so many strides toward my health and sense of wellbeing that I don’t want to look back. Kim’s approach to fitness and nutrition for my age group has made a world of difference. Kim’s training has helped me shift my focus from thinking my weight was the indicator of health to making my fitness level + eating habits the real indicator of my overall health. Kim makes me feel like I matter, and she has helped me realize my goals. If you are reading this, you’re probably thinking it’s time to take your own wellbeing in to your own hands – so do it – you only have one life, make it better!
